Page 17 New Zealand Responds To Nina Search Effort
The Texas based non-profit organization Equusearch took to the media in order to thaw communications between New Zealand and the search effort after substantial requests for information failed. New Zealand indicated it was happy to send Equusearch any information it could. They also invited the search organization to call to resolve any issues. They requested future communications be limited to Equusearch directly.
Equusearch has encountered problems from some U.S. governmental agencies in the past. Some of those agencies failed to do their research. Equusearch is responsible for the locating of numerous missing people.
If the philanthropic organization had only located one or two people in it's past, skepticism might be in order. However, the organization details hundreds of events finding and returning lost loved fathers, mothers, sons and daughters to their families.
Currently, Equusearch is in 14 states. Even the U.S. Coast Guard depends upon them to solve especially difficult cases.
The search for the missing yacht the Nina is in it's third day of searching. Today, searches are concentrating on the shoreline. If the Nina did meet her ultimate fate, there should be debris.
Ralph Baird of Equusearch says there is a 70% to 80% chance the crew remains on the yacht. Unless more resources can be brought to the effort, he did not put the chances of finding the yacht as high. If Baird's prediction is correct, that leaves the crew running short of food and water and in desperate need of help. The experienced sailors aboard the yacht including captain David Dyche and Evi Nemeth know how to collect rain water and to fish for food. However, discovery of the missing yacht as soon as possible is critical.
At the least, TES has an open line with RCC-NZ. From there a new era of cooperation is afoot. Yesterday, the organization took one large step closer to the process of finding the missing sailors. The urgency, of course, remains.
